Surface finish with cement-bonded particle boards (CBPB) in Kaliningrad

PAINT

The simplest surface finish of CBPB is painting with the formation of seams (gaps) between the plates (see Fig. 1). The most suitable for this purpose are acrylic or silicone paints. Depending on the type of paint and the customer’s request, the paints are applied in one or more layers on the dry primed board surface.

3 — finishing paint Silicone-EG inf3501;
4 — elastic filler for joints Bau-silicone inf. 5501

In the future, the formed seams (gaps) between the boards can:

– remain as a design element; in this case the edges of the board should be coated with paint of the adequate colour scale;
– fill with elastic mastic; be covered with decorative metal, plastic or wooden slats.

In cases where a surface finish without seams is required, a planar putty system must be applied.

PLASTER

Plastering works on CBPB lining can be carried out with a visible seam and without it.

Primer Putzgrund The parameters of ambient air when applying primer Putzgrund: T = 18°C, W = 50%. The primer consumption is 0.28 kg/m2. Drying time is 12 hours. Application is made using a roller with a bristles length of 10 mm. 10% water by weight is added to the primer. The time of application of primer on 10 panels is 2 hours

Texture plaster RolPutz Palazzo 25 The parameters of ambient air when applying structural plaster Rol Putz: T = 18°C, W = 50%. Rol Putz plaster consumption is 2.5 kg/m. Drying time to a degree that allows the application of paint is 24 hours. The time required for the polymerisation of the plaster to transport the wall panels is 72 hours. The application is carried out using a plastering trowel, then using a roller with a bristles length of 18 mm. Applying a layer of plaster with an area of 1 m is 7.5 minutes.

The time required for the polymerization of the plaster to transport the wall panels is 72 hours. The application is carried out using a trowel, then using a roller with a bristles length of 18 mm. It is necessary to structure coating. It takes 7.5 minutes to apply a plaster layer of 1 m.

Structural plastering RolPutz

The parameters of the ambient air during the application of the structural plaster RolPutz: T = 18 °C, W = 50%. The consumption of finish paint is 0.56 kg/m. The drying time is 12 hours. Application is made using a roller with a bristles length of 18 mm. It takes 3 minutes to apply a 1 m layer of paint. For this type of work, one manufacturer’s technology should be applied and recommendations followed.

The surface preparation for plastering without visible expansion joint of the CAPAROL company is presented below:

  1. Insulating adhesive Capatect-Dämmkleber
  2. Thermal insulating boards made of mineral fiber.
  3. Façade thermal insulating boards CAPATECT -MW — Fassadem dammplatten.
  4. Reinforcing layer adhesive-filler paste CAPATECT-Klebe — und- Spachtelmasse. + glass mesh CAPATECT Gewese
  5. prime coat Putz GRUNT 610.
  6. Finishing coat.

WALLPAPER

Direct wallpapering of the working surface is done after fixing the primed boards and filling the expansion joints with elastic mastic.

Surface finish of the boards can be performed using vinyl wallpaper, glass fiber wallpaper and non-woven wallpaper. In this case, the expansion joints will be hidden.

Vinyl wallpaper is used for finishing rooms with high aesthetic requirements and wherever high wear resistance or washing ability of interior elements is required.

Attention!

  1. It is not recommended to use paper-based wallpaper!
  2. It is recommended to use the wallpaper manufacturer’s adhesive and technology.
  3. It is possible to attach gypsum board sheets directly to the CBPB cladding using screws with overlapping seams; in this case it is possible to use any kind of wallpaper.

CERAMIC PLATING

It is not recommended to paste ceramic tiles directly on CBPB sheets.

To obtain a durable finish on CBPB cladding, it is necessary to fix the moisture resistant drywall sheets directly on CBPB cladding with screws with a joint overlap of at least 200 mm. (In this case, CBPB cladding plays the role of a carrier element).

The adhesive mastic is applied to the entire working surface of the board. 4 – moisture resistant drywall sheets.

In rooms with high humidity (bathroom, showers), it is recommended to carry out ceramic facing of premises with high humidity according to the following scheme:

In rooms with insufficient ventilation for structures with a constant water load (walls adjacent to the bathroom, a shower cubicle), CBPB should be applied with a suitable waterproofing coating (Figure 4): 6 – Waterproofing Flaehendicht

FLOOR COATS

Cement-bonded particle board flooring for thin-coat floor finish (Fig. 5) linoleum, carpeting should be putty along the entire plane with special focus on the places of the joint of plates. For puttying it is recommended to use elastic mastics on an acrylic base. Possible unevenness, inconsistencies of the faces of the boards are recommended to be removed by grinding according to the technology described earlier

Ceramic tile floor

In installing a ceramic tile floor, it is recommended to use pre-fabricated floor bases of gypsum-fibre sheets on the levelling layer of a dry fill, while the CBPB plays the role of a supporting base (see diagram in Figure 6)
